On the mode again
Sitting here at Bangalore airport killing time, waiting for the go-to-gate signal which is about 2 hours away.In 14 hours or so I'll be at Heathrow, and in 18 or so I'll be in Brussels, where Pablo will be greeting me and take me to my hotel. I look forward to getting into that hotel bed, I know I won't get much sleep on the plane, and didn't get much sleep before going to the airport.
Oh well. I tend to dislike the whole check-in and security procedure while traveling but these Indian people are smiling and very polite so it is actually nice. Not the stern faces I'm used to seeing.
Got myself a book by Dan Brown in the book shop here, called Digital Fortress. Should be good reading, the Da Vinci Code book really captivated me.

Trippin'
Well I am done with my business here in India this time, and went out on a trip with a guy called Subbu on Sunday. He provided a car with a driver and paid for all expenses, which was very nice of him considering that the businessdeal we were working on didn't work out. We went to Mysore to see the palace (no camera allowed), the Zoo (forgot my camera in the car) and the Garden, where I did remember the camera. It was awesome to stay in the Garden, it felt like a warm summersday would in Norway and we even sat and laid down in the grass for a while, relaxing.
Here are some shots I took while we were driving and walking around in the Garden:
Here are some pictures from the Garden (wonderful place):
And finally a picture of Subbu and his son:

Food and shopping
Yesterday I attended a lunch here with the locals at the place I'm staying. They only served vegetarian dishes, but man there was some good food there. Ended the whole thing with something that reminded me of very sweet donuts. After that I headed out where Vinay picked me up and we went out shopping where I got a Bose headset for my brother (he has broken the one he has now, so this was a perfect gift). The sound on this headset is awesome; first the sales guy showed me a noise-cancelling headset but it was too expensive, and not something my brother needs. I could use noise cancellation on plane trips I guess.. but I've already spent money on a digital camera and a *very* nice business attire so I'll be careful and not go overboard.
The headphones are here

On second thought, maybe I should get myself a headset as well. The sound was just.. awesome. They also had a home-entertainment-system setup, which was fairly expensive but it also had awesome sound. These are the kinds of things I'd like to spend my money on.
Anyway, ended the day watching Little Man on the movies.. it had some funny moments, but overall it sucked. The Devil Wears Prada which we saw a week or so ago was much better.
But yeah - food. I'm thinking of trying out this be-a-vegetarian thing.

At the door delivery
Got a couple of beers delivered at the door, by the folks that work here. Some chips, a couple of beers and JAG on the TV - life aint bad.
Tomorrow I'll be out cruising with Vinay, get to see more of Bangalore I guess.

I'm going for a walk (and there's nothing you can do)
One foot in front of the other..Walking down the street..
Met some kids from a local Islam High School, they were wondering where I was from and what I was doing. One of these kids was showing off how he could ride on one wheel, but I didn't think of taking a picture of that.

All smiles
Been out with Vinay a couple of days this week, he's been showing me the town and helping me shop a bit (helped me pick this camera we're using as well). Our first employee here in India. The first of many? :)

Holy cow!
Got this shot of a cow roaming the street when I was visiting a local internet cafè (the broadband connection on the serviced apartment broke down).
It was taken with an Olympus camera I just bought. I'm not impressed with the picture quality so far, but it wasn't a too expensive camera either - so there you go.

Upgraded & getting used to things
Well, I decided to upgrade from the place I was staying to something better (and 6-8 times more expensive). Now I've got internet in the room and the service here at the new place is simply great. Think I'll stay here for a while and figure out what to do next. Air conditioning can't be underestimated in a place like India.I've taken the auto-rickshaws around town and it ain't too expensive. People are friendly too, though some of the rickshaw drivers can be a bit .. clever when it comes to calculating the rate and when they're giving back change. But that's the way it is I guess.

Arrived
So, here I am in India. Arrived about 16 hours ago, and so far I've had a decent meal and gotten some sleep. Two things I first noted about India was the heat (and humidity) and the way they drive. They drive like crazy and use the horn all the time.
Well, phase 1 is over; I now have internet access, a place to live, found a place to eat and an ATM. Next I'll have to find a place to wash clothes, and maybe a better place for internet access so I can bring my own laptop.
India is different, that's for sure. :)
